Best places to visit in Croatia

  • Split: This bustling metropolis is one of the most popular destinations in the country. Known for both its history and its nightlife, there’s something for everyone in Split. Be sure not to miss Diocletian’s Palace and St. Dominus Church. The historic old town of Split is an attraction in and of itself, as it used to be part of the Roman emperor’s palace.
  • Dubrovnik: This charming coastal city has become even more popular recently, as it is the site of many filming locations for the popular TV series Game of Thrones. Wander through the historic old town, visit the city’s walls, and kayak through the crystal-clear waters surrounding the city.
  • Zagreb: Croatia’s capital has much to offer visitors. With an eclectic mix of attractions, you’ll want to check out the Museum of Broken Relationships, St. Mark’s Church, and the Cathedral of Zagreb. If you’re looking to explore nature, check out Medvednica.

Winter in Croatia

Croatia’s winters are mild, with temperatures rarely reaching freezing or below. Check out major cities like Split, Dubrovnik and Zagreb to experience some of the best Christmas markets in Europe. Dubrovnik is also famous for its Winter Festival that occurs around New Year's, so be sure to check it out if you're in the area. Croatia also offers many ski resorts for those looking to engage in winter sports. You may even want to hit the beach without crowds during winter, as it rarely gets too cold to sit outside.

We read the reviews a bit too late and got very concerned about this company. Luckily for us everything went okay. We reserved a car from airport (no prepayment) and picked it up the next day closer to city. We were not told what car we are going to get, but the price was told beforehand. We also brought prepaid fuel. I felt a little sketchy about this, but we ended up saving 20€ on fuel. Our rental time was 2 days for the price of 204€ + fuel. In total around 260€. Our deposit was 400€ on a credit card. We did not get any hidden fees and we went through the contract with the salesperson. At the car, we checked the car together for any damage and we were advised to take pictures. The company had a list of all the damages so they were aware if something else came during our rental time. Car was in great condition and it was easy to drive. Smooth like butter. The only issue was the tyre pressure being off. So we had to stop twice to make sure it was okay. We returned the car outside office hours to the key box. Remaining amount of fuel was very little, but enough so they can drive it to the gas station. Because of the bad reviews, I did stress about getting billed a lot more and losing my deposit, so I called the office the next morning. I asked them if I should drop by or anything, the answer was no. A very reassuring voice told me that the car is okay, fuel is okay and everything is fine. Deposit would be back in my account within 4 weeks depending on my bank. I got my deposit back (4 days waiting time) and paid the cheapest price I could find for a car. - To everyone afraid of getting scammed: take lots of pictures and videos, ask the right questions, do not hurry, take your time to go through the contract and be transparent of your trip and destinations (if crossing the border).

The car and the staff ok, the insurance policy bad. You pay 25 euros per day and you are still not covered for windows, tires and rims or theft. To be covered for everything it is like 45 per day, outrageously expensive in my opinion, given the fact the actual price to rent the car is 40 euros per day. Also, they asked me to pay 45 euros in addition because I use ferry, a thing that for me is a non sense...
