- Mount Pelee: Mount Pelee is perhaps one of the island’s top attractions. You can explore the settlement around the base of this active volcano and even hike parts of it if you dare. Its last eruption was in 1932.
- Fonds Blancs: Located on the east side of Le Francois, Fonds Blancs is a favorite swimming spot. This sandbank isn’t necessarily a beach, as most people head out on boats to enjoy the clear blue waters of this secluded area.
- Balata Gardens: This massive botanical garden is only a short drive north of Fort-de-France. Privately owned and operated, you can spend hours in the garden walking the paths and discovering the native flora and fauna of the island.

There are no toll roads in Martinique. Parking can be found along many roads on the island, or in parking lots within cities.
Speed limits are 50 km/h in towns and up to 110 km/h on highways. You will drive on the right side of the road, and seat belts are mandatory for all drivers and passengers. Be aware that there are speed cameras throughout the island and on-the-spot fines can be issued for speeding or other traffic infractions.
